Family dynasties which put Halifax on the world map are featured, such as the Crossleys, Akroyds, Mackintosh’s and the “Cat’s Eye” man Percy Shaw. We are given the story of the “Halifax” before it became part of the Lloyds Banking Group and visit Harvey’s Department Store and Fred Wade’s Bookshop to see how they have stood the test of time.

Local author Stephen Gee takes us on a tour of the oldest pubs in town and ‘Elvis authority’ Trevor Simpson revisits venues which made Halifax such a vital part of the ‘Swinging Sixties‘ when an amazing array of pop stars played here. We are guided around ‘Eureka’ the nationally acclaimed attraction for children and see how past and present are carefully blended in such developments as the Woolshops and Dean Clough Mills.
